Spicy Chilli Beef Roast


Ingredients to Marinate:
Beef: 3 lbs, cut into cubes
Red Chili Flakes: 3 Tbsp
Ginger Garlic Paste: 2 tsp
Curry Leaves: 1 sprig
Turmeric Powder: 1/2 tsp
Salt: 1 tsp
Vinegar: 1 Tbsp (you can also use fresh lime juice instead of vinegar)
Black Pepper: 1 tsp
Fennel Seeds: 2 Tbsp
Cinnamon: 1" stick
Cloves: 6
Cardamom: 5

Ingredients for Masala:
Shallots: 1/4th cup, thinly sliced
Onion: 1 small, thinly sliced
Garlic: 5 cloves, thinly sliced
Ginger: 2" piece, minced
Green Chili: 2, split
Curry Leaves: 1 sprig
Fennel Powder: 1 tsp
Turmeric Powder: 1/4 tsp
Salt: According to your taste
Coconut Oil: 2 Tbsp
Vegetable Oil: 3 Tbsp

Method:
  • Clean cubed beef thoroughly and drain water well
  • Dry roast black pepper, fennel seeds, cinnamon, cloves, and cardamom. When it cools grid it coarsely and add this to the beef cubes along with all the ingredients mentioned under the Ingredients to Marinate
  • Mix everything well in a pressure cooker and let it marinate for 30 minutes to 1 hour
    Without adding any water pressure cook the marinated beef for about 4 whistles. When the pressure is completely released open the pressure cooker cover and cook till all water evaporates
  • In a pan heat coconut and vegetable oils and add shallots and onion along with garlic, ginger, green chili, curry leaves, and saute till onion turns lightly brown
  • Add fennel powder, turmeric powder, and salt to the onion and mix well
  • To this add cooked beef cubes and mix very well and roast this for about 20 minutes in medium heat stirring every 3-4 minutes


Enjoy with rice, chapati, or appam!!! You can serve the dish with sliced red onions....
