Fish Roast



Ingredients:
Fish: 1 lb, cut into cubes
Onion: 1 big, thinly sliced
Green Chilies: 3, split
Ginger: 2” piece, julienned
Garlic: 3 cloves, thinly sliced
Tomato: 1 medium, sliced
Turmeric Powder: ½ tsp
Chili Powder: 3 tsp
Coriander Powder: 1 Tbsp
Garam Masala: ¼ tsp
Pepper Powder: 1 tsp
Curry Leaves: 1 sprig
Mustard Seeds: ½ tsp
Fenugreek seeds: 1 pinch
Salt & Oil

Method:

  • Clean fish thoroughly, drain water, and marinate the cubed fish with salt, ¼ tsp turmeric powder, 1 tsp chili powder, and 1 tsp of pepper powder. Set this aside for 30 minutes to an hour in the fridge
  • Heat oil in a deep pan and shallow fry the marinated fish pieces in batches (2-3 minutes on each side) and drain them on a paper towel
  • In the same pan pour more oil if necessary and crackle mustard seeds and fenugreek seeds. Add sliced onion and curry leaves to this and sauté till onion turns light brown
  • Add green chilies and ginger-garlic paste to this and sauté for another few minutes
  • Now add coriander powder, garam masala, rest of turmeric and chili powder to this along with salt and sauté till the raw smell goes away
  • Add the sliced tomatoes and coat it will with masala. Cover and cook till tomatoes are soft and tender
  • Now add the fish pieces along with ¼ cup of water and mix gently without breaking the fish pieces and cook till the water evaporates completely

We all loved this dish but the taste really sank in after a day or so. A perfect dish to have with rice or even chapathi J Enjoy!!
