Semiya (Vermicelli) Upma

 Semiya: 2 cups
Green Chili: 2, thinly sliced
Cashew Nuts / Peanuts: Handful
Onion: 1 small, thinly sliced
Turmeric Powder: 1/4 tsp
Curry Leaves: 1 sprig
Mustard Seeds: 1/4 tsp
Chana Dal: 1 tsp
Salt: according to taste
Oil: 2 tsp
Water: 1.5 cup

  • In a pan roast semiya in medium heat till it turns light brown
    Remove it to another plate and let it cool
    In the same pan heat oil and splutter mustard seeds, chana dal
  • Add onion, green chili, cashews, and curry leaves
    When onion turns translucent add turmeric powder and salt
  • After a minute add water and let the water boil
  • Check salt and add roasted semiya and mix well
    Let it cook in medium-low heat till semiya is completely cooked (Add more water if necessary)
