Beef Stew

Beef: 2 lbs, cubed and washed
Potato: 2 medium, cubed
Carrot: 2 medium, cubed
Onion: 1 large, cubed
Garlic: 4 cloves, sliced
Ginger: 2” piece, minced
Green chili: 4, split or according to your desired spice level
Meat Masala: 2 tsp
Black Pepper Powder: 1.5 tsp, or according to your desired spice level
Turmeric Powder: ½ tsp
Salt: According to your taste
Coconut Milk: 1 cup, thin
Curry Leaves: 1 sprig
Tomato: 1 medium, cubed
Mustard Seeds: ¼ tsp
Shallots: 5, thinly sliced
Oil: 1 Tbsp

Method :

  • In a pressure cooker add cubed beef, potato, carrot, onion, green chili, garlic, ginger, turmeric powder, pepper powder, meat masala, curry leaves, and salt along with 2 tbsp of water. Mix very well and cook it till about you hear 3 whistles
  • Switch off the flame and let it rest till the pressure is completely released
  • In a deep pan heat some oil and splutter mustard seeds
  • Add shallot to the pan and fry till its golden brown
  • Add cubed tomatoes and a pinch of turmeric powder
  • Once the tomato is soft, transfer everything from the pressure cooker to the pan
  • When it starts simmering lower the temperature to low and add the coconut milk, stir well, and check for salt
  • When it starts simmering switch off the flame and transfer it to a serving dish

Serve with Appam, Iddiyappam, or bread!!
