Thenga Chammanthi (Coconut Chutney) - Dry Version

Coconut: 1 cup, shredded
Dry Red Chili: 3-4, broken
Tamarind: 2 small pieces, soaked in warm water for 5 minutes
Cumin Seeds: 1 tsp
Chili Powder: ½ tsp
Garlic: 1 big clove
Shallots: 2
Tamarind: 1 small piece, soaked in warm water for 10 minutes
Salt: according to your taste

  • In a blender or arakallu (I actually used arakallu) blend all the ingredients except for salt without using any water
  • Add salt to this mixture, combine it well
Serve with rice or kanji, pickle, and pappadum!!
